The article analyses the precariat as a new social class in modern society. The changes in the field of labour and employment has led to the development of non-standard forms of employment. Part-time, secondary, temporary employment appears and becomes the substitute for the standardized employment. Precursora, that is, unstable employment is becoming a source of less secure and cheaper labor. The emergence of precariat linked to the lack of employment, low level of social protection, status dissonance, and the lack of definition of professional identity. The precariat includes many social strata: both workers with low incomes, temporarily employed and unemployed, and workers with high education levels and professional qualifications. This class will include freelancers - independent professionals engaged in intellectual or creative work who are not on the staff of any organization. Dealing with ambiguity of career prospects, breach or lack of employment contracts leads to the lack of confidence in person's social need, his right to aspire to the position in his degree field, social security and hope for the future. Heterogeneous social groups and layers are combined in a similar position in the labour market and thus, a new social class - the precariat.
