Based on the analysis of official data of state statistics, a conclusion is made about the growth of real dynamics of income of the population. Inequality in income of individual groups of the Russian population and interregional differences in this indicator are considered as a source of threats to sustainable development and the cause of crisis phenomena in the economy. Measures aimed at overcoming income inequality are formulated. The tasks of regional economic policy are defined, which should take into account the heterogeneity of the national economic space and contribute to overcoming social differentiation.
