The article continues and develops the study of the linguistic features of the Selected Fairy Tales by F. N. Svinyin, which were first published in 2016, but have not been thoroughly studied so far. The paper analyzes the influence of the “book” tradition on the formation of the Pomor storyteller’s idiolect. For the first time, the study is focused on the participial phrases actively used by Svinyin, but generally not typical for oral folk texts and therefore not addressed by linguo-folk-lorists. The article presents extensive linguistic material, including the cases of substantivization and adjectivization of participles, as well as their inclusion into the phraseological expressions. It is proved that the unique individual style of Svinyin, the bearer of the richest fairy tale telling tradition, was formed as a result of combining canonical folk material and book sources in his tales. The research materials show that F. N. Svinyin’s tales can be viewed as an example of the transition from a folk tale to a literary author’s tale, which manifests itself not only at the level of poetics, but also at the linguistic (namely grammatical) level.
