Reasons for the actualization of the ancient Russian painting tradition in the national culture of the early twentieth century

The authors note that the difficulty in analyzing the stated issues is due to the ambiguous interpretation of different aspects of the creative process by the masters of modern and avantgarde (the attitude to material and form, the artist as a creator and the viewer as a subject), with the variety of concepts for the development of art at the beginning of the 20th century. Among the reasons for the conversion by Russian painters of the early twentieth century. To the ancient Russian artistic tradition are indicated a new vision that was formed in Russian culture by the end of the 19th century, the final connection of politics and art, as a result of which the sphere of politics became an integral element of artistic practices. Cultural figures began to offer various options for social reorganization, the main goal of which was to be the construction of the kingdom of Truth. Another reason for the actualization of the ancient Russian icon-painting tradition is the crisis of the model of representation of a separate and autonomous subject, which was formed in the art of the previous period. Artists of the early twentieth century. it was necessary to solve the problem of interaction between man and the world around him, to establish a distance between them. In conclusion, it is concluded that at the beginning of the 20th century it was art that became the basis for globalization, as a result of this process a single socio cultural space was formed. The reaction to globalization was glocalization: the need for modernity and the avant garde to find a national artistic identity and ways for self-determination.
