The causes and conditions of offenses related to illicit trafficking in pornographic materials or objects (articles 242-2422 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)

In this article, devoted to the study of the causal complex of crimes related to illicit trafficking in pornographic materials or objects, the existing definitions of “crime prevention” are analyzed, the author’s interpretation of this type of activity is given. The general, supported by the scientific community definition of determinants of criminality, i.e. causes and conditions of committing criminal offenses provided by the current Criminal Code of the Russian Federation is also considered. The relevance of the stated topic is conditioned by the need to respond quickly to the changes in social relations, the unabated growth in the number of crimes related to the illicit trafficking of pornographic materials or objects, the lack of new and effective developments to prevent this group of crimes. It is noted that disregard for moral principles and norms of morality causes indelible damage to the healthy development of society, in which human rights and freedoms are proclaimed the highest value. The official statistical data provided by the Judicial Department of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the Federal State Statistics Service on the number of crimes committed under Articles 242-2422 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, as well as indicators that form the basis for determining the conditions for committing the crimes in question are given. As a result of the conducted research work, the main reason for committing the crimes in question and the conditions that give rise to them were identified.
