The study defines the management pathology and describes the techniques for evaluating the level of management pathology in an organization by means of the original scale system. The authors propose building a management pathology profile that allows one to visually determine the intensity of current pathologies. Besides, the research identifies the most “pathological” and “non-pathological” organizations and the most common management pathologies based on the findings of a survey of different-level managers from over 400 Russian and international companies in 2011-2018. In addition, the paper analyzes the 2018 research results related to the main causes of management pathologies depending on the external and internal factors. The factor in shortcomings of education is regarded as a separate source for management pathologies; the prospects for further research are outlined.
