The paper addresses issues related to the use of topological optimization at the product design stage. In the course of this work, a technique for designing and manufacturing products using topological optimization was developed, and it was also tested on the component of the machine tool needed to perform machining. The 3D model of the product designed using this technique was imported into the 3D assembly of the machine tool and then the analysis of the deformations of the fixture elements under the action of cutting forces was performed using the NX Nastran system. During the analysis, several variants of the structure of the fixture elements were considered, the deformation of which under the action of cutting forces had a direct impact on ensuring the accuracy of the geometric size obtained in the operation. It is shown that the developed design technique, in combination with the use of NX Nastran, allows to design a product with optimal mass and strength characteristics, which will significantly reduce the amount of scrap produced during the machining of parts.
