Use of dermal fibroblasts to facilitate regeneration of chronic skin wounds

We evaluated the effectiveness of dermal fibroblasts used to improve the process of trophic ulcer regeneration. The study included 41 patients with trophic ulcers (4 to 26 cm2) of the lower extremities treated in the surgical unit of Simferopol Central Regional Clinical Hospital. Patients in Group 1 received local treatment with dermal fibroblasts to stimulate regeneration in addition to their standard comprehensive treatment. Patients from Group 2 (n = 21) received standard therapy alone. The use of dermal equivalent in comprehensive treatment for trophic ulcers was clinically effective. It facilitated tissue repair, reduced healing time, and significantly reduced the area of wounds compared to patients from Group 2.
