This paper examines the key role of improvisation in shaping the performance skills of jazz pianists. The study is based on the unique value and importance of improvisation in jazz music, indicating that it is not only the soul of jazz music, but also an important means of expressing the individuality and talent of performers. The results of this study emphasize that improvisation can help players improve their quick thinking, finger dexterity, musical perception and expressiveness, as well as stimulate their creativity and imagination to develop their own unique styles. The purpose of this study is to encourage jazz piano students to embrace improvisation, improve their skills through practice and study, and contribute to the development of jazz music. By analyzing practical examples of famous jazz pianists in detail, effective strategies are offered to cope with the difficulties of improvisation.
