The use of ehdarterectomy in coronary surgery

Retrospective comparative analysis of the results of direct revascularization of myocardium on 121 patients in combination with endarterectomy and without it has been conducted. Established on the pre-operative investigation of coronory angiogramms is an indication for a postponed endarterectomy. The methodics of mechanical endarterectomy has been described in sufficient details and its advantages over the urgent cases, the necessity of which appear during an operation, have been demonstrated. The authors point out that a planned endarterectomy extends the necessity for a direct myocardium revasculirazation of the patients earlier considered non-operable due to the diffused lesion of the coronary arteries. The results of isolated coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) are comparable with the analogous ones of CABG endarterectomy.
