Application of leucocyte index of inflammation in purulent surgery

The increase of the number of leukocytes in the overall analysis of blood in surgical purulent diseases of soft tissue injuries and infectious complications do not always objectively reflect the degree of inflammation, thus, difficulties often arise in determining the treatment strategy and in prescription of appropriate antibiotic. The results of treatment of 286 patients have been studied. They have got treatment in the department of purulent surgery of MUZ Municipal Ambulance Hospital, Ulan-Ude. It is shown that the proposed leucocytic index of inflammation is more informative. Its use in the clinical practice can define more precisely the indications for patients' hospitalization and prescription of antibiotics.
