Application of NPD (new product development) methods as part of improving innovation project management

This article is devoted to the problem of improving the methodology for managing innovative projects. It is hypothesized that modern NPD (New Product Development) tools can complement and qualitatively improve standard project management procedures. The essence of the processes of developing a new product and managing innovative projects is considered, the structure of a corporate innovative project is presented. The methodological problem of project management is presented, which consists in the transition between the stages of the project. As its solution, the Stage-Gate model is proposed. A step-by-step procedure for implementing an innovative project based on modern NPD tools is proposed. The indicated procedure includes five stages: research-opening, business case planning, development-execution, verification-control, release-completion. Each stage is disclosed from the position of content, the algorithm of key actions and the tools used.
