Soil is the main source of providing agricultural crops with nutrients. Under the conditions of increased intensification of agriculture, there is a decrease in soil fertility. Knowing the exact fertilizer rate is a science that requires careful analysis of many factors. You often have to take into account hundreds of dynamic parameters. These parameters include plant nutrient uptake levels, research data, chemical, physical and biological properties of the soil, weather, water composition, land type, soil testing methods, irrigation methods, fertilizer characteristics, interaction between fertilizers, and much more. The purpose of this article is to analyze the use of scientifically based doses of mineral fertilizers on agricultural lands of the Nizhny Novgorod region. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to solve a number of tasks: to analyze the soil fertility of the Nizhny Novgorod region; to identify the main reasons for the decrease in fertility; to analyse the dynamics of fertilizer application on farmland, and identify the value of applying science-based doses of mineral fertilizers.
