The article examines the application of high-enthalpy plasma for surface modification of softwood products. The results of comprehensive studies, including optical and scanning electron microscopy, are presented to evaluate the morphological and microstructural changes in the wood after plasma treatment. It has been established that exposure to the plasma jet leads to the formation of a multilayer structure in the near-surface region, changes in surface topography and color gradient, as well as surface leveling and densification. Plasma treatment contributes to a reduction in roughness and partial filling of pores with resins, resulting in increased hydrophobicity, wear resistance, fire resistance, and improved adhesion properties of wood materials. The method is environmentally safe and highly efficient, offering broad prospects for application in construction and furniture manufacturing, as well as for surface preparation prior to the application of coatings and adhesives.
