The use of web conference technology in judicial activities

The features of the use of web conferencing video technology in civil, administrative and arbitration proceedings are considered; the need for unification of legal regulation of the use of web-based videoconferencing by courts in the CPC of the Russian Federation, CAS of the Russian Federation and the Agro-industrial Complex of the Russian Federation is justified; attention is focused on the need to legitimize the concept of “web conferencing”; the relevance of the phased introduction of web-basedconferences in the practice of courts in the consideration of criminal cases; attention is drawn to the urgency of legislating uniform technical conditions for the organization of online meetings; it is proposed to adopt a single regulatory act detailing the procedure for holding a web conference by courts on various categories of cases; it is recommended to expand the list of grounds for refusing to hold an online meeting; the expediency of using web-based videoconferencing in the control and verification stages of all types of process is noted; it is concluded that it is necessary to harmonize domestic procedural legislation regulating the use of remote web-based videoconferencing technology.
