The results of studies on the possibility of using in breeding process covering mulching materials: polyethylene films, powdered chalk, films of biodegradable polymers, nonwoven materials are presented. It was revealed that the maximum preservation of productive moisture in the arable soil layer was noted on the variant with the use of black and silver film. Less effective mulching between the rows with non-woven material and chalk. The use of biodegradable film as mulch ensures not only the preservation of soil moisture, but also the complete utilization of the material by microorganisms when leaving it on the field. Yield indicators on plots correlated with the value of productive moisture, stored in the soil. The use of covering mulching materials on the plots of the breeding nursery helps to reduce the stress load on soybean plants caused by adverse weather factors. Surface mulching of the soil allows to smooth daily temperature changes, contributing to a more complete preservation of the obtained ovaries, increasing the yield of hybrid material, and ultimately helps to increase the reliability and efficiency of the breeding process.
