Application of green roofs

In modern cities, it becomes more difficult every year to organize comfortable living for residents. This is due to many reasons caused by the process of urbanization, changes in people's lives, urban planning mistakes and the transition from an industrial to a post-industrial society. One of the negative factors is a sharp decrease in the area of land plots in the city limits available for use, and an increasing shortage of land. The natural consequence of the industrial development of cities was the deterioration of the environmental situation, which was reflected in the occurrence of such negative phenomena as the effect of heat island, smog caps, activation of pathogens of various diseases, concentration of a significant amount of harmful substances. Every year residents need more and more the opportunity to breathe fresh air. All trends negatively affect the possibility of sustainable development of the city, the health and psyche of residents, their quality and life expectancy. Therefore, there is a need to find effective tools to ensure the sustainable development of the city. Examining the international experience regarding the tools for ensuring the sustainable development of the city, it was found that considerable attention is paid to the use of such a tool as a "green roof". This tool can also be used in already formed areas with dense buildings: in particular, during reconstruction, to create architectural and landscape objects using green spaces [6, p. 215].
