Introduction: A correct understanding of the systematization of criminal legislation, the principles and criteria for its implementation is a serious problem for the Russian criminal law system as a whole. At the same time, it is obvious that today's ambiguity, ambiguity and gaps in criminal law are a consequence of its insufficient consistency, as well as the lack of conceptual harmony and effective work on the systematization of legislation. In this regard, both the legislator and the scientific community need a tool with which innovative criminal law ideas of combating crime would be tested for the consistency of the criminal law norms of the existing criminal law system, would not violate the current system of principles and criteria for systematizing criminal law. This tool could be the doctrine of criminal law, which will allow you to check the scientific nature of the idea, the predictability of the consequences and possible problems of its implementation. Research methods. Dialectics, analysis, system - structural. The Results of the study: Formulated the author's definition of the systematisation of Russian criminal law; developed principles and criteria for its implementation. Findings and Conclusions: The systematization of the Russian criminal legislation is, first of all, a specific legal and technical device. In this regard, the traditional definition of systematization as a type of legal activity to streamline normative legal acts, activities to streamline and improve legislation, and activities to bring normative acts into a single, ordered system needs to be clarified and supplemented.
