Foundations for estimation of consumption of dry matter from bulky fodder by cattle (review)

The authors presented the results of evaluation of consumption of dry matter from coarse fodder and concentrates in connection with productivity and live weight of milk cows and young cattle for systems of agricultural animals nutrition normalizing in USA and United Kingdom. The calculations of maximum eating of coarse fodder are represented for developed in France system, which is based on experimental data for consumption of dry matter of «standard fodder» (dry matter of meadow grass) by «standard cow» (live weight of 600 kg, milk yield of 17 kg per day). The estimation of eating of «standard fodder» was given also for animals from other productivity groups and different types of coarse fodder. The method of calculation of consumption of coarse fodder of different quality in connection with addition of concentrates in ration is considered. The use of described approaches as scientific researchers in nutrition field as in practice during composition of rations and plan the quantity of individual fodder in connection with expected productivity is discussed.
