Biological recultivation problem and its solution in the European Northeast, the Komi Repuiblic as an example

The paper deals with the problem of disturbed lands recultivation in the Komi Republic. It contains data on the dynamics of disturbed and recultivated lands in the Komi Republic connected with the history of industrial development of the republic. The disadvantages of the practical methods that were applied at the initial stage of disturbed lands recultivation are highlighted. The recultivation techniques done without knowledge on structure and functions of natural ecosystems in the North are shown to be ineffective. The results of long-term scientific studies on restoration of the disturbed lands are considered. As a result the nature restoration concept and the system of practical techniques adapted to specific natural-climatic conditions of the North are developed.
