Among the traditional anthropological issues of medieval philosophy is the problem of the relationship of body and soul. It goes without saying that the thinkers of this era could not ignore the conclusions that were made by ancient philosophers, primarily Plato and Aristotle. The first, as already mentioned, considers a person as a self-moving, immortal, self-conscious, non-corporeal soul that owns the body. The latter is a despicable attitude. "The basis of this model is the intuition of the soul as incorporeal substance and life, and the body as corpse, and the living because it is considered through the prism of the future collapse... And the status of the individual, already controversial here in anthropology, even becoming a negative value: specific, individual person is the fruit of an unfortunate Union of body and soul, the result of self-will and disobedience of the lower parts of the soul Supreme". The soul is thus a self-sufficient spiritual substance.
