Historical memory in the works of R.I. Mamilov

The study discusses the historical past in the monumental art of the Soviet sculptor R.I. Mamilov. The artistic trends of the Soviet era are most clearly reflected in his works. The research analyzes the professional development of the artist, the search for his style based on the introduction of the elements of national culture into the historical genre. R.I. Mamilov is the first Ingush sculptor who goes beyond the ideological Soviet realism. The novelty approach of R.I. Mamilov consists in the emphasis on national types, the use of mythological folk plots as a basis for image. The author concluded that the creative search of the sculptor in the field of the preservation of national identity and historical memory, the national element in his works influenced the special style of the Ingush monumental art.
