In the article a problem of ethnic and political processes in Russia is considered and a role, which it plays in the study of ethnic politics in the region. The author considers the development of the ethnic and political processes in the mainstream of two principle approaches, as well as he determines two types of relations (between ethnic community and political institutions, as the interaction of communities themselves).
