The article is devoted to the analysis of Buddhistic understanding of “I” and personality in their interaction with the study of anatman of early Buddhistic philosophy. Study of anatman is one of the most difficult problems in the Buddhistic philosophy. Opinions of different modern researchers and buddhistic philosophers on this issue are considered in the article. The author challenges the established idea of a living being personality as of the system consisting of five khandhas. Khandhas represent groups of dharmas which are ontological elements which compile all things existent. In the author's opinion the true personality in Sarvastivada system of Buddhism views is a “nirvana personality” consisting of three asamscrit-dharmas.
