Problem of induction justification (conventionalism, inductive-analytic, and linguistic approaches)

Бесплатный доступ

The classical epistemological problem posed by Hume is studied. The main questions are the following: Is it possible to justify the use of induction in everyday life? Can we justify induction as a way of synthesis of empirical evidence or a basis for new facts’ prediction? Based on the analysis of conventional views and ordinary language philosophy, the author shows impossibility of pure theoretical justification of induction. The author concludes that pure speculative thinking failed to resolve the problem of induction justification and points to the sphere of social practice as a key to the problem solution. These results enrich traditions of philosophical understanding of science by this contributing to the elucidation of specific scientific knowledge.
