The problem of relationship of faith and mind in medieval philosophy

The article analyzes the understanding of the ratio of faith and reason by medieval philosophers. The author examines the reflections of such representatives of the philosophy of patristics as Clement of Alexandria, Origen, Tertullian, Aurelius Augustine. The content of the Areopagitic Corpus's writings is also touched upon. Turning to the philosophy of scholasticism, the author dwells on the ideas of Abelard, Thomas Aquinas, Duns Scotus and William Ockham. By the example of the teachings of these brilliant thinkers, the main options for solving the problem are dentified, the dominant attitude in its solution is determined.
