Problems of marriage stability and the increasing number of divorces in modern society

This article deals with the basic approaches to studying the problem of marriage stability and the increasing number of divorces in Russia. We have analyzed the domestic sociological and demographic sources, devoted to the problems of family, marriages and divorces. Based on statistical data and the results of sociological research, which was carried out in the Republic of Buryatia in 2013-2014, we present some characteristics, causes, factors, and consequences of divorces in modern families. There is a need for further research on this problem through a comparison of data that takes into account place of residence (urban and rural population), ethnicity, age groups, level of education, and psychological characteristics of individuals. As a result of the comprehensive study of all factors of divorces the adequate measures for their prevention can be taken.
