The success of the project implementation largely depends on its innovative potential. One of the most effective solutions in managing innovative potential is to ensure a balance between resource-production and market potentials, subject to the successful implementation of the project. To obtain the required results when making management decisions related to the development, production and sale of an innovative product, it is necessary to carry out a constant forecast and, accordingly, monitoring of indicators characterizing the economic potential and its components. As a general indicator of the assessment, forecast and monitoring of the economic potential of a product, the authors propose to consider sales volumes at various stages of the product life cycle. The quality of the results of such an assessment depends on the choice of forecasting methods, which in turn is affected by the nature of the initial information, depending on the conditions for the implementation of projects, as well as the time intervals for which the forecast is made. To take into account the conditions for the implementation of projects, a typology of innovative projects is proposed, influencing the choice of forecasting methods depending on the nature of information on the elements of the economic potential of the product.
