The subject of the work is the activity of Finnish nationalists from the XIX to the XXI centuries as a political force that can influence Finland's relations with third countries. The aim of the study is a comprehensive search of Finnish nationalism as a phenomenon. The activities of far-right politicians and parties in Finland have long been a source of concern to neighboring countries, especially Russia. The last tsars sought to deprive the Finnish autonomy, the Soviets supported the Finnish Communists in the Civil War with the "whites", and following the Second World War, the activities of far-right parties and politicians were banned in this country with a bilateral treaty with the USSR. But even today, the Russian media write about the leading positions of the right-wing True Finns party. It’s foreign policy ideas are unprofitable for both Russia and the EU. However, the nationalists in Finland are not the most influential political force. The country has been able to build political institutions that resist radical ideas. Centrists, leftists, and liberals oppose the far-right. In 1932, they suppressed the coup and prevented the establishment of fascist power. Today, radical right-wing initiatives are blocked with the parliament, which allows Finland to pursue a profitable foreign policy that is not based on right-wing populist slogans.
