The article is dedicated to the issue of piercing the corporate veil of State Enterprises in international commercial disputes. The author considers the theory or piercing the corporate veil, influence of State Enterprises in international relations and international law and the practice of several international commercial arbitrations in order to reveal the procedural and material problematics, which would in theory allow States (as an owner and a shareholder) avoid liability under commercial contracts with foreign counteragents. The majority of such cases relate to international investment law and are more an exception, because the concept of piercing the corporate veil is still not well-implemented on international level
