Purpose: This study aims to analyze the protection of intellectual property in the Internet and means of the copyright protection in accordance with the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, the legislation of Japan and People’s Republic of China. Methodology: Legalistic and comparative-legal approaches were used. Results: Internet allows an unlimited access to big volumes of information. Therefore, the problem of the responsibility of individuals providing services in the access to the electronic environment, posting of material and transfer of information within such environment acquires special topicality. Restriction of access to the information resource as a measure of copyright protection in the electronic environment is not efficient. In a number of countries, broad powers were given to special administrative bodies to combat E-offences, in others, including Russia, the American model of responsibility of the information intermediaries was adopted. The Presidium of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation has formulated a list of requirements that an information intermediary should fulfil in order to avoid responsibility...
