Introduction. Currently, the integration approach to teaching disciplines is beginning to be actively implemented in the system of higher education. Modern conditions dictate the need to find radically new approaches to learning. Unacceptable become reproductive, copying methods. Preference is given to methods that activate thinking, motivation, based on the creative potential of students. Methods. The transformations currently taking place both in higher education and in the entire system of training are marked by the transition from the paradigm of learning to the paradigm of education. This imposes certain features to the presentation of educational information. It is important to form the ability to restore logical connections between the studied components outside of linearity. New approaches should be used in the application of skills and abilities. The integration approach in teaching plastic disciplines fully meets the task of forming a whole picture of the world. The integration of special plastic disciplines is similar to the process currently taking place in art, associated with its synthesis. Analysis. Heuristic method of teaching involves the students ' own construction of the goals and content of education, allows to personalize educational activities, solving transformative problems based on the life practice and Outlook of students. The use of the problem-heuristic method in the integration approach allows to creatively apply disparate elements and creatively complement the missing fragments, attaching the knowledge gained in the study of one discipline to the practice of another. Results. Due to the nature of the studied material, the problem-heuristic method cannot completely replace the traditional methods of teaching in art and pedagogical education.
