The article highlights the main risk factors of paints and varnishes (coatings) and coatings for the environment and consumer health. A comparative analysis of the regulation of safety requirements for coatings and coatings in Ukraine and the EU, especially with regard to volatile organic compounds (VOCS) and heavy metals.
