Problems of formation and functioning of the reactive power market in RF electric power

In the face of increasing demands to improve the reliability of power supply and the quality of electric energy, an important feature is the management of reactive power in the power system. Currently, the creation and implementation of market-based mechanisms for controlling reactive power in power systems has been little studied. With the introduction of effective market-based reactive power control mechanisms, it will increase the level of reliability, efficiency and quality of operation of the Unified Energy System of Russia. The article represents the author’s approach to understanding the main issues on the formation of a reactive power market in the electric power industry of the Russian Federation. Suggestions are made to improve the electric power market of Russia with the aim of increasing the efficiency and reliability of the functioning of the UES. Creating a reactive power market will increase the interest of subjects of the electric power market of the Russian Federation in the effective regulation of reactive power.
