The article discusses the theoretical aspects of innovation, innovation activity and investment development of industrial enterprises in the context of economic modernization. The urgency of the problem of forming the foundations of innovation and investment activity of industrial enterprises is substantiated, taking into account the implementation of strategic goals of the country's industry. The article proves that innovations are confined to products and applied technologies, which, in turn, leads to an imbalance in the development of economic entities.
