Amphibians and reptiles as a part of the emerald network

Here we consider amphibians and reptiles as components of the Emerald Network. Recent years brought significant changes in the taxonomy of these groups. We propose to amend the list of these animals in Appendix 1 of the Berne Convention in accordance with the modern systematics and composition of the fauna of the European part of Russia. The analysis of the habitats of some species of amphibians and reptiles revealed the inadequacy of the proposed sections of the Emerald Network (TPNZ) for the long-term conservation policy.
