Problems of artistry in texts of intermediate genres

The paper is devoted to the so-called intermediate genres their peculiarities and history of origin are the matters in question. The article aims to prove that intermediate literature can be considered to be fiction. In this connection an attempt is made to analyze the essay by L. Ya. Ginzburg on the basis of such criteria as intellectual and emotional appeal to the reader, imagery and the author's ability to convey the atmosphere of the events. As a result the following is established: essay as one of intermediate genres should be considered as belonging to highly artistic works of literature.
