The article discusses the main problems and prospects of using DNA in the criminal justice system. It is emphasized that DNA is one of the best sources of evidence in the field of criminology. With the help of DNA fingerprinting, it is possible to solve the most complex criminal cases such as rape, cases related to wildlife, the identification of victims’ bodies in mass accidents and catastrophes, etc. During the identification process, forensic experts scan certain areas of DNA that differ from each other and use the data to create a DNA profile of this person. DNA profiling is also known as DNA fingerprinting, which is an important forensic method for identifying suspects and victims. DNA fingerprinting has huge applications in the field of criminology, which ranges from identifying the perpetrator in rape cases, paternity testing, wildlife cases, immigration cases, etc. DNA analysis is one of the proofs that is not subject to any changes in a person’s life, which helps in his correct identification.
