Problems and prospects of travel industry development in the Republic of Dagestan

The article discusses the state of the travel industry in the Republic of Dagestan. It is noted that the country is a promising market for the development of tourism and recreation, but not all the resources have been utilized yet. The author considers the measures conducted in 2014-2015 aimed at development of the industry: forums, festivals, meetings, exhibitions, investment projects. The material resources of the industry and popular leisure facilities are described. The paper discusses areas and specific activities for the further development of the travel industry, including the celebration of the 2000th anniversary of the city of Derbent in 2015.
