The article discusses the factors necessary for the successful energy supply of transport infrastructure (and other small and medium - sized objects) in the most remote areas of the Russian Arctic-island and coastal areas. The existing and potential sources of energy supply in the Arctic are analyzed. It is concluded that the most promising are intelligent control systems that use both mineral fuel and alternative energy sources. The authors come to the opinion that the main reasons preventing the rapid commissioning of such systems are: the lack of a unified technical policy; the unresolved issue of the development and comprehensive testing of equipment and software of appropriate quality of domestic production; the inaccessibility of detailed plans for the development of energy and communication systems in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation; high investment costs and the need for state support.
