Problems of cultural identity in modern Eurasia

Education is an integral part of the development of society, a continuous process of transferring experience and skills from the older generation to the younger. Education is designed, first of all, to reveal the human potential, to bring up the identity of the individual. The article justifies the need of post-Soviet community to refer to the concept of Eurasian civilizational identity. To achieve this goal, a set of complementary research methods was used, including general scientific methods of analysis, comparisons, and the method of historicism, and the article generalizes the views of domestic and foreign researchers. The author discloses the danger of modern globalization and localization processes in the context of personal identification, and suggests contradistinguishing the global identity of a united Eurasia and the impact of the "Atlantic" Western cultural intervention. The study proved that development of the collective identity of the post-Soviet individual could not be limited to national, regional or even national identity. Today, the Eurasian space is tightly “welded” by the net-work of economic, political and cultural relations, which is no less durable than those uniting the EU countries. Therefore, it is necessary to postulate a larger, civilizational identity, which combines both local and global universal value elements. This will lead to a deeper integration of cultures and peoples.
