In this article the bases and theories of international legal recognition of states are explored. Also considered a number of areas of implementation in the modern international community and its specificity. The periods of the formation of international legal recognition and its history are indicated. International legal recognition of states is understood as a means by which existing states respond to the emergence of emerging subjects of international law.
