Problems of the world socio-economic progress in the light of the 2010 Summit on the millennium development goals

The article deals with the UN Summit 2010 on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), which considered realization of the key tasks of the world socio-economic development formulated in the Millennium Declaration: to eliminate extreme poverty and hunger, to ensure proper education and health care, adequate employment and housing, gender equality and environmental sustainability to all people on the planet,. The Summit assessed the progress and adopted a global action plan to achieve the MDGs. The participants in the Summit confirmed their determination to increase the efforts to fulfill their promises concerning the MDGs.
