A brief description of the features of general education development in rural area of the republic of Buryatia has been done. Prospects for development of rural school in contemporary socio-economic conditions have been highlighted. The possibilities and ways to solve the key issues of rural school modernization in contemporary conditions have been shown on the example of Garginsky secondary school in Kurumkansky district, Republic of Buryatia.
