Poetics of Charles Chesnutt’s fiction in the critical study

The article presents a critical review of the studies of Charles W. Chesnutt’s fiction pursued by Russian and American scholars. The author concentrates on different approaches to Chesnutt’s poetics and reveals a diversity of estimations the critics have regarded on behalf of the writer’s contribution into the history of American literature.
