The issues of counterterrorism in social networks (case study of the North Caucasus data)

The article describes the features of the use of social networking services by terrorist groups of the North Caucasus region. The authors consider the trends of such activities, analyze countermeasures taken by studying the legislation and law enforcement practices, and explore the trends of criminal prosecution of people who distributed extremist materials on the Internet. On the basis of the undertaken study the authors characterize the effectiveness of the measures taken in the area of counteraction to terrorism in the social networks.
