Problems of the development of church historical science in Russia under the conditions of the atheistic Soviet state

The article deals with the problem of the survival of the church history science in Russia in the post-revolutionary period and in the era of the USSR. The systematic actions of the Soviet authorities are shown, aimed at the complete destruction of spiritual education and the harsh suppression of religious propaganda, which effectively destroyed the base necessary to continue research in the field of church science. Only the timely lifting of the ban for the ROC to open theological schools made it possible to maintain continuity in church history and create conditions for its rapid growth in the post-Soviet period. Research methods: The work is based on the principles of historicism and scientific objectivity. In the course of studying and summarizing the material, problem-chronological and comparative-historical research methods are also used.
