The problems of divorce in modern family

Divorce is often perceived as a negative phenomenon. Sometimes it is seen by scholars as the tragic collapse of the basic cell of society - of the family. The increase of the number of divorces is associated with the crisis of the modern family and with the degradation of family values among young people. However the author tries to look at the problem of divorce from the other position. Basing on the statistics and sociological data the author analyzes the divorces not only as a destructive phenomenon, but also as a positive factor for the development of the family’s life. The author argues that the tendency of transformation of the family values is not the indicator of family crisis, but reflects the socio-economic and cultural development of the modern society.
