Problems of social and political history of the XX century i n the works of historians of the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Komi Branch, USSR Academy of Sciences (1970–1990)

A historiographical overview of the main publications of historians for the period of the Institute's entry into the Komi Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1970-1990) is presented. The methodology and the main directions of research of this period in socio-political history of the XX century are defined: agricultural issues, the history of the working class and regional industrial enterprises, the Christianization and the spread of atheism in the XX century, the revolution and civil war, national- state building, the Great Patriotic war, history of the CPSU, Komsomol, trade unions. The most significant works are described, including collective monographs on the history of the region ("History of the Komi ASSR from ancient times to the present day", "Essays on the history of the Komi regional organization of the CPSU", "The history of Syktyvkar"). It is concluded that there is a lot of factual material in the works of historians of the Soviet time, which can be used today.
