Problems of preservation and development of languages of minorities of the north in conditions of multi-ethnic society of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

In spite of the developed educational system in Yakutia there are certain difficulties when it comes to teaching indigenous languages of the North - Evenki, Even, Yukaghir. Gradual loss of mother tongues is observed among the small-numbered ethnic groups of the republic. The functioning of languages is cut down to minimum (Even, Evenki), some are at the brink of extinction (Yukaghir). The situation with the native languages of the peoples of the North is unequivocally estimated as that of a crisis and can serve as an indicator of the general social and economic position of the peoples of the North.
